“not going anywhere” is an Installation featuring the painting "Going Up”—a depiction of a spiral staircase fragmented
across four panels—and the painting “not going anywhere”—a red and white stripe, measuring
6 x 500 cm, acrylic on canvas, without a wooden frame, representing a barrier tape. The stripe,
illuminated by a spotlight, blocks access to the painting on the wall, and the phrase “not going
anywhere” appears written on its shadow on the floor. This installation confronts the viewer with a
paradox: an image of ascent obstructed by an artificial barrier, symbolising resistance against
expectations of progress or productivity. It invites reflection on imposed limitations, both within art
and society, while reclaiming the autonomy of creative expression unshackled by purpose or
validation.
